FOURTEEN.

Let it rain—let it flash and thunder

Let it rain—let it take me under

Beneath the pain and silence in your wake

Where sorrow floats in all you now forsake.

Where love and life meet loss—I stall

For deeper the love, is further the fall

To a life without, to a life without you here

Cast off afloat upon a wish and prayer.

Time does not heal but finds a place that’s new

Life is death’s default and our only clue

To all that is and the keys to carry on

To spaces unseen between the here and gone.

So start again with now a way in sight

Slowly—surely—dark turning back to light.
